On August 2, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the list of the third round of national-level tourist villages. A total of 199 villages across the country were selected, including 7 from Zhejiang Province. The village of Yuyuan, Wuyi County, was selected, which is the only village from Jinhua this time.
Yuyuan is located in the southwest of Wuyi. It was built in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279). There are 1027 surviving ancient buildings in Yuyuan. It has a very beautiful natural environment, with more than 100 ancient trees living for hundreds of years and a more than 80% vegetation cover rate.
In recent years, Yuyuan has made its best efforts to publicize local festivals and explore new methods of rural tourism. Meanwhile, it also plans to set up a village homestay management platform, striving to transform itself from a traditional scenic spot into a comprehensive vacation resort.
Previously, Zhuge Village from Lanxi, Wushi Village from Pan‘an, Huayuan Village from Dongyang, and Xinguang Village from Pujiang were also selected for the list of national-level tourist villages. (By Tang Xuyu, translated by Li Ziyi, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
