Jinhua Mountain Session - Day 1

Today is the airport pickup day. This date was fixed months ago. It happened so that this year’s typhoon, a very powerful typhoon Lekima, also chose this date to hit China’s east coast (and Shanghai where the airport is, and Jinhua).

No worries at all. Our project team had backup plan(s). Many flights were delayed, but eventually we had everyone gathered as usual at Starbucks of Pudong Airport. Due to the weather conditions, we postponed our return to Jinhua till the next day, and right now everyone is safe and sound, checked-in in a cozy hotel in Shanghai.

The seminar on improving governance capacity of universities in developing countries in 2019 was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by the International Foreign Aid Base of Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU). In attendance were education administrators from different countries such as the Philippines, Laos, Romania, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, as well as the students of the School of Economics and Management of ZNU, the China-Africa International Business School MBA students of ZNU, and the Foreign Languages College MTI (master's degree of translation and interpretation) students.

While our outstanding participants of Jinhua Homestay 2019 are getting ready for the next session (August 10-24), we are actively getting everything ready for their arrival.

An integral part of our project is our volunteers. Most of the volunteers are Chinese students who work hard to improve their English skills along with their professional skills. They are passionate about their own culture and want to help our participants get better experience of living in a historical village and learning about a new culture.

Our volunteers are looking forward to this amazing opportunity to make new friends from all over the world!

Jinhua Ranks 5th in “Foodie Index”

Nowadays, local specialties have become an important reference for travelers. A few days ago, a 2019 Mainland China City Foodie Index ignited Jinhua citizens’ interest. The “foodie index” refers to the convenience and accessibility of the cuisine industry in a city. In this list Jinhua ranks fifth, following cities with famous local specialties: Chongqing, Shenzhen, Bijie, and Chengdu.

A Global Village in Yiwu

Lizu Village is located in the northwestern part of Yiwu. It is notable for its striking views of natural beauty and traditional Chinese buildings. The village is surrounded by a series of connected mountains, and has nurtured many large old trees that unwittingly cast their shade over the white walls, dark green tiles and footpaths in the fields. These distinctive landscape features jointly give the visitors a feeling of living in a tranquil Chinese painting.
