A sharing meeting called “Jinhua’s Chapter of CPC Centenary: Great Changes in Mountain Villages” was held in Juxi village, Pan’an county, Jinhua on June 26.

The participants exchanged views relating to the economy and trade, science and technology, education and culture and they also discussed topics on the great changes and future visions for Jinhua.

GERT JOHANNES GROBLER, FORMER SENIOR DIPLOMAT AT THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION

It is indeed a great pleasure, as an African, to share this informative and pleasant trip with you. I wish to thank the municipal people’s government of Jinhua for this opportunity to visit the beautiful Pan’an county– an outing, which as you can see, is thoroughly enjoyed by all of us! We as foreign guests are extremely grateful for this opportunity to learn and experience more about Jinhua, Zhejiang province and China, with its remarkable culture and resilient people. Events like this contribute significantly to better mutual understanding and solid friendships.

I first arrived at the Institute of Africa Studies at Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua in 2019 and immediately felt welcome in this open, friendly and livable city where I, and all my compatriots from Africa and elsewhere, have experienced nothing but kindness, respect and goodwill from the people of this country, at all levels, at all times.

The “Red Boat spirit” and “Zhejiang spirit” reflect remarkable commonalities and synergies which jointly put China on its road towards a “moderately prosperous society” and the national rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, unified and together.

China has always adopted its own road and formed its own development path with bold experiments, based on its own conditions, experiences. The Chinese government and people have resolved difficulties through imaginative reforms and innovation, and removing institutional obstacles hindering development. China has the ability to implement policies with a fierce focus and long term thinking and planning and to take its citizens with it in unity, which has led to an unprecedented level of internal political stability.

SHKVAR YEVHENII (UKRAINE), PROFESSOR AT ZHEJIANG NORMAL UNIVERSITY, WINNER OF THE 2018 ZHEJIANG WEST LAKE FRIENDSHIP AWARD

The two-day trip enabled us to fully appreciate traditional Chinese history and culture through the beautiful county of Pan’an, which made the deepest impression in my five-year living experience in China.

All the beautiful places in Pan’an we went to, such as the interesting tea picking in the tea garden, the incredible combination of the old architecture in the ancient villages, the ancient academies with modern elements, will be remembered in my heart.

What impressed me the most was the QR code on the box at the tea market. In Jinhua, digital payment is indeed everywhere and modern technology and the ancient tea culture are so harmoniously integrated. As a scientist, I feel very happy.

I have just completed my application to the National Natural Science Foundation of China. This year, the fund gave foreign experts a special channel to apply for projects, which offered us new opportunities. Such an equal and open attitude towards talent makes researchers like me more willing to call this place home and to make our own contributions to its development.

LOVISETTO MARCO (ITALIAN), AN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS PHD STUDENT AT FUDAN UNIVERSITY, A CHINESE-ENGLISH-ITALIAN FREELANCE TRANSLATOR, A RESEARCHER IN TRANSLATION STUDIES

I came to Jinhua in 2011 and lived here for several years. In my eyes, the campus of ZJNU is very beautiful and large. Although I am now living in Shanghai, I still care about Jinhua and return here whenever I get the chance.

After visiting so many places, I feel that the efforts made by the Jinhua municipal government in the protection and inheritance of its culture are to be applauded. I am particularly delighted to see the ancient villages use their cultural and architectural resources to develop tourism, to boost people's prosperity and to further promote the protection of cultural heritage.

The “iJinhua” bilingual WeChat account and the English website of the Jinhua municipal government are the best way for foreigners to learn about the city. The launch of these platforms also shows that Jinhua is an open city. It has made a great effort to enable more foreigners to learn about Jinhua and integrate with Jinhua, which is very valuable.

KAMIL AHMERD HAMA RASH (IRAQI), MANAGER OF YIWU QANDIL CONSULTING BUSINESS SERVICE

This is an unforgettable and pleasant experience. We appreciate the beautiful scenery and unique traditional culture of Pan’an county in Jinhua. We love China and we love Jinhua!

I first came to China in 2005 and when I came to Yiwu in 2006, I didn’t want to leave. I worked as an import and export consultant there. I also helped found the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce.

Life in Yiwu is very convenient. There are many international friends and we can communicate with each other. Our life and work here is very happy.

HASSAN IBRAHIM HASSAN AHMED (EGYPTIAN), CEO OF HIMA INTERNATIONAL

I had nothing when I came to China. During my 17 years in China, I have gained knowledge, a career and love. I am especially grateful that it is China that has made me who I am and I wish to be with her forever.

CHEN XINSEN, MEMBER OF THE STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE CPC COMMITTEE OF PAN'AN COUNTY AND HEAD OF THE PUBLICITY AUTHORITY OF PANAN

The rapid changes of Pan’an have contributed to a beautiful and richer Zhejiang and China. Today, we invite our international friends to come to Pan’an, to see the ancient villages, appreciate the culture, taste the food, feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture, experience Jinhua’s landscape and humanity and witness its prosperous life and rural revitalization. We want Zhejiang’s culture to go abroad, while more of our international friends can be brought in to unlock the code of China's development and success in Zhejiang.

GUO ZHONGMING, DIRECTOR OF THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS OFFICE OF JINHUA MUNICIPAL PEOPLE’S GOVERNMENT

Thank you for coming with us to witness the great changes made by China over the past century. As you said in the sharing session, China has made remarkable progress in recent years and the people of Jinhua have also shared the real development dividend.

These achievements would not have been possible without the hard work and courage of the Chinese people, as well as the efforts of everyone present. With your knowledge and international vision, you will become an important force in the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
