Arrival time and flight number need to be communicated in advance. An English-speaking pick-up and transport to Jinhua on the arrival day (22 June 2016 for the Yuyuan session, 10 August 2016 for the Zhiyan session) at Shanghai Pudong Airport will be arranged. You should book your flights as to arrive in Shanghai Pudong Airport before noon.

On the departure day, we will leave the village at 9am. It takes about 5 hours to reach Shanghai Pudong Airport. So you should book your return flights after 5pm in order to have sufficient time to check in.

The sponsor will arrange a transfer service for the group. Under special circumstances, the sponsor might refund a Shanghai-Jinhua train ticket (2nd class).

We are only able to reimburse tickets for the Shanghai-Jinhua train connection.

High speed (G-train, ??) trains leave from Shanghai Hongqiao station (???????) to Jinhua multiple times every hour between 6:25am and 8:33pm. The journey takes about two hours. Travelling from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao station takes about 2 hours.

During the 3-week stay, the sponsor will schedule events and tasks, dividing the participants into smaller groups. If participants wish to travel in China by themselves, at their own expense, they are welcome to do so, but they need to do that before or after the project. Participants who do not wish to use the provided transfer from and/or back to Shanghai must inform the organiser before the start of the program.
The group of international participants will be accompanied throughout the whole event by English-speaking volunteers, minimizing linguistic barriers.
The accommodation provided will be in either local family houses or designated hostels in the villages.
Yes, water and electricity will be available for common use.
Three meals a day will be provided, primarily Chinese food.
Yes. They must declare their allergies in the application form.
Yes, both medical care and first aid will be available in villages.
Bed sheets and blankets (weekly cleaning), toilet, shower, air-conditioning will be provided. Accommodation will be comfortable but basic, consistent with what would be expected in a rural village.
The sponsor will arrange group sightseeing tours.
The co-sponsors aim to promote home-stay tourism, so participants will spend most of their time in a single village. According to the event schedule, the sponsor will arrange visits and activities in the surrounding areas, though individual travel will not be possible within the 3 weeks of the event.
A workroom with Wi-Fi will be available in each village, where participants can meet and work together. Participants must bring their own laptops and other project-related equipment.
Yes, it is possible, as long as it does not interfere with the main aims of the project. The organiser must be informed in advance.
A certificate of participation will be issued to each person by the Foreign and Overseas-Chinese Affairs Office of Jinhua Municipal People's Government.
Participants must purchase their own comprehensive travel insurance.
Participants must not smoke in the accommodation, workrooms, transport and so on. The organizers will do their best to protect participants from smoke, but it is not possible totally to guarantee that they will not occasionally come into contact with smokers.

In the villages itself it is not possible to change foreign currencies to RMB. The following currencies can be changed to RMB at Bank of China (????) branches in downtown Jinhua as well as in Wuyi:

If you need to change any other currency you should do so before arriving in Jinhua (for example in Pudong airport). In any case, you need to bring you passport in order to exchange money.

We will provide you with an airport pickup from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at the arrival day. You should book your flights as to arrive in Shanghai Pudong Airport before noon.

In case you are not able to be at Pudong airport on time, you will need to take the train from Shanghai Hongqiao station to Jinhua.

In general, every foreign visitor to China needs to apply for a visa in advance. We will send you an official invitation letter in Chinese after your application has been confirmed. This letter contains all the necessary information in order to apply for the Chinese visa. The exact category of the visa you should apply for depends on your country of origin and any other travel plans you might have. In the past, most participants applied for an F visa. Definitely! We will provide workrooms and a printer, but you should bring your own laptop and anything else you need to work on your tasks. Don't forget your camera ;-)
